- Oh la la – C’était magnifique…oh oui
I first met Alice when her sister booked me to photograph her wedding back in April 2017. Alice was a bridesmaid then and was planning on getting married herself the year after. When I first met Philippe I didn’t know he was coming from an Anglo family. I remember standing next to him at the wedding breakfast waiting for the bride and grooms arrival, telling him that the way his name was spelt was really French and happened to be my own brothe’s name too. It was to be pronounced ‘Phileeeep’ not ‘Philipp’. To my surprise he started speaking French to me with a mild South of France accent.
Few months later I received a lovely message from them both asking if I’d be free to photograph their big day this summer 2018.
It was a pleasure photographing their special day. Having met Alice’s family last year, it was a joy to meet them again for another happy occasion. Philippe’s family had travelled a couple of days before and had already experienced the delights of crumpets and cooked breakfasts. In true French style they jived away on the dance floor and were looking forward to an extended weekend in the UK.
Alice’s gown was beautiful and suited her perfectly. The Charlie Brear beauty was feminine, elegant with a touch of jazz and sexiness. Philippe and his mates looked equally dashing in their blue suit and designer shades.
From a church ceremony at St Michaels Myland we then travelled to the beautiful village of Nayland where Alice and co had spent the day before decorating the village hall for the reception. Alice’s dad had lent 2 of his adored vintage cars. The Daimler car that Alice’s sister had used for her wedding then transported the bridesmaids this time. The bride and groom opted for the blue Rover.
It was a relaxed wedding based on good food and a traditional French croquembouche, great company and lots of bilingual fun & laughter.
Wishing Alice & Philippe a lifetime of happiness…
